Air Bubbles, Iceland
Jon McCormack,2023
Air bubbles trapped in the floor of an ice cave were frozen in place after floodwater rapidly spread across the surface and then refroze. As the water cooled, pockets of air remained suspended within the new layer of ice rather than escaping. The photograph shows a brief record of changing water levels and rapid freezing inside the cave.
